Baytril is a new generation antibiotic medicine which is effective against Chlamydial "Respiratory", some, but not all, forms of Mycoplasmal "airsac diseases", some, but not all, E. coli infections and Salmonella. It is the treatment of choice for Salmonella infections. It is the treatment of choice for Salmonella infections. It is not effective against the new food related airsac disease. Baytril is used for individual birds (given by a dropper) or to the flock in the drinking water. It is the antibiotic of choice for individually sick birds, especially stock birds and it should be in every fancier's pharmacy.
Dose:
Pigeons: 1 ml / litre for Salmonella in fancy breeds or 5 drops by mouth for individual treatment.
Budgerigars: 1ml per litre for Salmonella and enteritis for 5 days. 2 drops (0.1ml) by mouth or crop needle for seriously ill birds.
Finches/Canaries: 1 ml / litre for Salmonella and enteritis for 5 days. 2 drops (0.1ml) by mouth or crop needle for seriously ill birds.
